The Venturesome Voyages of Captain Voss

In the early 1900s Captain Voss convinced a native northwestern Indian tribe to sell him one of their dugout canoes. The "Tilikum" was a modest 30 feet long, carved from a single great Redwood log. He dragged her to his home in the Victoria harbor on Vancouver Island and set to work installing two ten foot masts, and a plywood cabin, shoring up the sides by a mere seven inches. Captain Voss then sailed this little gem around the globe. The Venturesome Voyages of Captain Voss is an exciting read of the adventures of a man known to be one of the greatest seamen of the twentieth century. I saw this little vessel in Victoria a couple of months ago, and this thing looked like it would have barely made it to Seattle. Really makes me feel like we're all just a bunch of wimps nowadays. Definitely a worthwhile read.
